Major League Baseball, 2010

Postby Bud in Virginia on 16 Mar 2010, 03:05

Hope springs eternal in Spring Training!

Sure wish I was heading out to Scottsdale, AZ for a few days this year. I need the sunshine more than ever after this non-stop winter.

The last bit of snow from Snowmageddon melted from my sidewalk Saturday. There's still a small mound left across the street. That means we've had nearly straight three months with at least some snow on the ground...

hey Bud! Your winter sounds like what we've had the past two, luckily this winter was wonderful:), hardly any snow...............but next year who knows?

Just watched our first Spring Training game on tv last night. Our Mariners lost, but really in these games that doesn't mean much. I think we have an excellent team this year.............another year with Griffey is always a good year in my book. We're hoping to traverse west across our state this summer to catch a few games live but will see how the budget goes.

I love baseball!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hello: :hello:

Hi Sue - Might be interesting season for both of us! I'm not a Nationals fan, but I joined a group that splits time on a set of season tickets. As long as I get tickets to see my Giants, the Dodgers (so I can root with the home team!), and anyone else in the NL West, I'll be satisfied.

Its really feeling like spring!

I'm also pretty happy that the Richmond (VA) Flying Squirrels is the new Double-A affiliate team of the Giants. Richmond is only a couple of hours away, and its the city where my daughter goes to college!

So here we are, two weeks into the season and Bud is ready to raise a championship banner at Phone Company Park.

Not so fast, my friend.
Breaking News: The Dodgers just signed Mr. T to be our new bullpen ace (God knows he's better than the crap we've got) and he has a prediction for this weekend's LA vs SF showdown:

Timmy "The DUI Toker" took care of us alright. Pathetic. Embarrassing 9-0 laugher. But the Blue came back today (go Man-Roid!) to win the series, 2-1.

Next battle: begins June 28 at Phone Company Park, SF.

You'll need to get by the Nats this weekend, of course. I'll be there to watch on Friday.

Looking forward to when the rivalry continues next month. Hope you get to face Timmy again

You heard it here first (maybe)...

This kid Stephen Strasburg has the potential to not just be very good, but a future Hall of Famer. Only time will tell

A sad day in Seattle Mariner Baseball history today.............number 24 retired (22 years to the day since he was drafted). For those of you who don't know him by number, Ken Griffey, Jr. retired as of today. He had not had a great beginning this year and I think this day had been coming for a little while but it's still sad. I'm glad I could say I've seen him play in person and proud to say I am and always will be a Griffey fan and Mariner fan. AND, the team came out tonight and won one for 'Junior'; or as our 'Ichiro' calls him 'George'! He could really play ball ! :snif

Its too bad he was injured so often. He would have the home run record otherwise, hands down. 630 isn't too shabby, though!

I'll be seeing one of his teams, the Reds, play the Nationals tomorrow night.

I can't take it anymore. Along with the dreadful Dodgers, mapache61 has melted down.

Joe Torre is a joke-of-a-manager. The ONLY reason he has four titles is Steinbrenner's check book. My cat could manage the sickening, mercenary Yanks and win a World Series.

Jonathon Broxton. This bloated hayseed is dead to me. Has been since the NLCS disaster in Philly. I'd rather see the Dodger Stadium peanut vendor come out and pitch the 9th.

And why must I be tortured with ESPN? Joe Morgan is why Mute buttons were invented. Jon Miller (what folks in the radio business refer to as a "puker") isn't fit to shine Vin Scully's shoes, let alone call a MLB game. Does he think he's being cute and funny? He STINKS! And Orel Herscheiser....well, that man wears a Dodgers World Series ring. Can't complain there.

After we SWEEP Bud's Giants this week, I hope we lose the rest of our games. In a perfect world, Dodger Stadium attendance will drop to 5000 per game, the nauseating Frank McCrook will be even poorer than he already is (forcing that skinflint to sell the team) and Bud Selig will be thrown in jail.

Go Dodgers.....

Feeling some pain, are we? As a Giants fan, it of course warms the cockles of my heart ;)

I can agree with you on your broadcaster comments EXCEPT Jon Miller. Sorry, he's great Hall of Famer!! As for Joe Morgan, I'm not sure when he transformed into an irritant. I don't remember him always being that way. Of course, he's a hero in my eyes for knocking the Dodgers out of the playoff hunt just a few years ago.

GO GIANTS - BEAT LA!

Jon Miller, Hall of Famer? Ha. Yeah, sure, he'll get in...if he's going to work at the HOF as a janitor. What's next? Hall of Fame broadcaster Tim McCarver?

Feeling some pain? No sir. A LOT of pain after that pathetic fiasco against the filthy Yanks.

How 'bout you? Did you enjoy last night's game?

The stupid "Beat LA" sign again? Really, Bud? Come on. You know what a shambles the Dodger organization has become. I expected something a little more vicious.

No way on McCarver. But I'm not makin' stuff up. Bay Area kid and Giant announcer is in for real

No fun last night. Tonight promises to be far better for the home team!

Vicious? You want viscious? OK, you asked for it!

There you go! After I submit this post, I'll be smashing my computer monitor. I'm sending you a bill for a new one. Please pay promptly. Cash only. I don't want your gold Glenn Beck coins.

What happened to The Great Cain tonight? Did he find Timmy's stash and hit the bong before the game?

Tomorrow we complete the sweep. Prepare to weep.

Congrats - thankfully there is lots of ball left to play.

I'm sure you can't read this since you smashed your monitor, but I'll be back soon. Not feeling so hot right now :anger:

Oh, don't worry. I guarantee there will be sufficient Dodger disasters to make you smile before this nightmare is all over.

I gotta go. My phone is ringing. I just scored fifteen pounds of hash...and Timmy wants to buy all of it. :thud:

See you again on the 19th.

Here we are for another round! Game one to the good guys, and tonight the Dodger Blue will get a nice look at Timmy Lincecum.

The Giants should be on a seven game win streak, save for bad call vs the Mets on Sunday at the plate on what would have been a game winning score. Think I’m whining and biased? Even the Mets catcher, who allegedly made the tag, said the ump blew the call :x

Timmy The Toker didn't look so hot the other night. He must've been hittin' the hash pipe hard before the game. Still, The Blue found a way to blow it...thanks to the pathetic bullpen.

Oh well, with the Dodgers in a death spiral, I'll take one out of three. Bud's filthy Giants will make my blood boil again soon...July 30 at Phone Company Park to be exact.
