That's fascinating, john. Admittedly, I raised an eyebrow at 'Lorcan' myself. I certainly see how the child's name could be inspired by St. Laurence, patron of Dublin.

Awww...

"I got a call from Elvis yesterday and they're over the moon, they're so, so happy," said the loved-up pair's manager Sam Feldman. "We've already got the children signed," he joked.

Wouldn't you think that by now the official site and her Verve site would have posted the good news? At the time of this posting - nothing...

Yes, Bud, I agree. In my opinion, I believe it's important to come out quickly with some timely official information.

The Twins

Frank and Dexter, eh? I kinda thought with EC's Italian background, the couple might opt for Romulus and Remis for twin boys. And, I thought it especially appropriate given the root of Ms. Krall's first name, as we see below:

Seriously, congratulations to Diana and EC. I'm sure they are in for a busy, but gloriously happy time with their little ones. I wonder how many lullabies EC and DK have composed as a result of their offspring?

I couldn't be more thrilled for Diana and Elvis, and am relieved that all went well for Diana and the boys. What a heck of a Christmas gift!!

Now, I wonder which will play piano and which will play guitar?

Verve's job is to run her professional career, not her private life. Diana and Elvis are obviously private people and don't feel the need to let us know more than is necessary to keep the tabloid speculation at bay - and good for them. It's not like we have a 'right' to that information - though I'm sure we're all glad to know. (And BTW, the main Verve site does have a copy of the original press release).
Besides, methinks people at Verve have bigger fish to fry now that 3/4ths of the have been laid off last week. That's mostly sales, publicity and marketing people too...and at Christmas, no less.

I think the massive layoffs at Verve might be a reason for not "tending to" the official site that much. I was sorry to hear about that, especially at this time of year.

However, I really don't think it would hurt to put an announcement and link to the press release on the entry page of the www.dianakrall.com website. I do understand a certain need for privacy, but on the other hand, births, deaths and marriages are also a matter of public record. I don't think it's prying to acknowledge those facts of life. And I think it lends a website credibility when it has the official information on its site in a timely fashion. Otherwise, people, who are naturally curious, might start to seek out less credible sources of information -- which, as a rule, you want to avoid. I was in PR full time for five years, and one of our goals was to keep people coming to us for information because they knew they would get a credible and timely reply when people sought information about our business. That's how you keep down rumors. I don't think excessive prying is called for...just an acknowledgement of the births and a link posted on the website. (Of course, as a fan, I'd like to know more, but that's not what I'm suggesting here right now.)

Personally, I'm really looking forward to when Diana and Elvis feel comfortable with a cute photo of the babies and the new family. But I'm sure all the parents on this website know how you felt taking care of one baby at a time. You're bleary eyed, lucky to get three hours of straight sleep and an uninterrupted shower. So I think the cute photo can wait!

I agree completely with Coda, of course. The pregnancy has been very public, and it was in fact mentioned in the currently posted "upbeat" description on the Verve site. I certainly support the right of celebraties to have privacy, but I don't think posting a birth announcement crosses the line, especially when the parents have been publicly ecstatic...

I totally agree with all of the above. It's sure going to be exciting to see Dexter and Frank with their mum and dad in the fture.
Merry Christmas to the new family and all of the happy Krall members too.
I bet Nicole is excited and busy lending a helping hand.

Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James

The choice of names does not appear to be inspired by Elvis'/Declan's male relatives. His grandfather was called Patrick Matthew McManus ( Matthew was used for Elvis's son in his first marriage). His father is called Ronald Patrick Ross Mc Manus, b. 1927.

'Henry' is possibly inspired by Joseph Henry Burnett aka. T Bone Burnett , a longtime musical cohort of Elvis' ; they occasionally perform together as The Coward Brothers.

Diana's father is referred to as 'Jim' in one 'net link , possibly inspiring the use of 'James' . Elvis' mother's ( Lilian Alda Ablett ,b. 1927) father was also called Jim so maybe that is another inspiration. Does anyone have similar info. on Diana's comparable relatives?
