I just enjoyed another new 'Best of Diana Krall' piece that you can find on the media section at the official Diana Krall website. There's a great interview/concert/song piece, about 12 minutes long that's been added. Looks like some of it was recorded at some of her summer concerts. Really nice!

Just saw a Borders ad for Diana's 'Best of' enhanced CD/DVD. Ad was on the golf channel tonight. It was a nice surprise. :D

I finally got the cd/dvd edition and am enjoying it. Work has been very busy and it is the perfect ' unwind' disc, sipping something warm , chomping some biscuits.

I was interested to see a rather silly mistake in the credits for the DVD. 'Temptation' is listed as a Elvis Costello song.True , Elvis does have a song of that name ( on Get Happy!!!, 1980) . However what we hear and see Diana and co. perform is the Tom Waits song that's on GITOR.

All the same , I'd love to hear Diana have a go at Elvis' song .

The lyric goes -

Temptation

Who's this kid with his mumbo jumbo
Living in air-conditioned limbo
Though they treat him just like a guest
He's living under threat of arrest
Now that he's finally trying to make some sense
He drinks in self-defense
Give me temptation

The subtle touch of authority will
Take you anytime down to the station
You say that it's alright by me
Now you're living with the curse of sophistication
Now that you're shackled up to the rigmarole
With absolute control

I see you lying so wide awake
After I've given you all that you can take
So for heaven's sake
Give me temptation

Still you want to succeed so badly
Finding your life will not be deadly
You tell me you can take it or leave it
Sometimes I think that you really believe it
You're just itching to break her secret laws
As you go from claws to clause
Give me temptation

Elvis once explained it as -

Temptation: This started out as a holier-than-thou snipe at a VERY FAMOUS ROCK STAR, who I imagined to be breathing his own artificial atmosphere. However by the time we came to record it I'd had a good lungful of the same poison, but had also located that slippery addictive feeling that you get just before giving in to something wicked. It proved to be the saving of the song, together with a few pints of beer and a riff borrowed from Booker T and the M.G.s

Thanks, John, and good catch

That Elvis is one cool cat. That's all I have to say.

Just thought I'd add my bit on the "Best Of" disc.

The album's release date found me on the road, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Strolling into the town's only Barnes & Noble store, I'm greeted by Frim Fram Sauce BLASTING through the store's sound system. NICE! Stupid grin on my face, I hot-foot it for the DK section. All the old discs are there, but no Best Of. Thinking I have my dates screwed up, I hunt down an employee.
"Where's the new Diana?!" I demand.
"Oh, some woman came in this morning and bought 10 copies. We might be out."
"Whaaaaa?!?! No! You gotta be kidding me!"
This poor girl looks at me like I'm insane. And when it comes to DK, she's right.
Turns out they had some more copies in the stockroom, "But only the deluxe dvd edition," the employee apologized.
I pretended to be disappointed...and hit the streets of Santa Fe, a happy man.

While I agree it is a greatest hits collection, and not DK's true "Best." This is definitely a disc worth owning. Great tunes. And as mentioned by others, the sound quality is astounding. Crisp, bright, beautiful.

I'd seen everything on the DVD before, except "New Year's Eve." Wow. This is worth the price of admission alone.

When I saw the EC writing credit on Temptation, I thought the same thing.
