I'm not Bud, but I loved it, too. I liked it better than the version on the CD, which I also enjoy. You can tell Diana is really getting into the story of the song.

Just call me lucky, tender blue boy ...

Coda:

I agree, it is a very nice performance of LGB, but, if I may say, her performance of it for us at the Oakdale in July was astounding, much better even than this video. My friend and I who went, well, Diana took our breath away!

Cheers,

Nice find Chris, thanks. Actually "Little Girl Blue" isn't my favorite song of "From This Moment On" or "The Very Best Of Diana Krall" although I like it.

Thanks, Sam! I would say LGB is probably, along with "Exactly Like You," one of my two faves from FTMO. I also especially like "How Insensitive" and "Isn't This A Lovely Day." As to the Very Best, I'd say "Frim Fram Sauce," "S'Wonderful," "Pick Yourself Up," "Let's Fall In Love," "You Go to My Head" and "East of the Sun (West of the Moon)" rate up there with "Little Girl Blue."

It's funny, I just noticed that not only did DK and Tony Lipuma leave out from "Very Best" my personal faves "I Remember You" and "Popsicle Toes," heckfire, they also left out "Dancing In the Dark." That's kind of a surprise. Interestingly, indeed, she only has two songs from TLOL and has five (!) from WILIYE (which I feel is her best album, though I put Look of Love close behind it). She also has two from "Love Scenes," only one from "All For You" (also surprising) and one from FTMO (Little Girl Blue, of course). The other four are from Live In Paris or previously unreleased.

I guess for marketing reasons they could only do one disk of music. The Eagles, for instance, on their "Very Best" had 33 songs, but the Eagles sell a lot more records than does our Diana. Sheryl Crow, meanwhile, who also sells a lot more records, had only 16 songs on her "Very Best" album. Hard to figure these things sometimes. One thing is for certain, Diana could easily put together another set of 15 entirely different songs of hers that would be every bit as good as the "Very Best" she did release. Few artists could say the same. Sounds like a good thread topic!

You are right, they left out many good songs.

Chris wrote:"...I guess for marketing reasons they could only do one disk of music..."

What you mean? Would be the decline of music industry?

What I mean, Sam, is that two discs of music would get pricey. They probably left it to 15 songs on one disk because, unlike the Eagles, for instance, Diana sells a good number of records but not tens of millions per album.

Exactly Chris, and also currently the sales of Cd and Dvd decrease so much because of popularization of dowloads.
