You Ideal Set-list (if Diana ever were to ask) and Venue

One of the things about Diana is that she has so many fine, beautiful, soulful, swinging, exhilirating songs, it's impossible for all her fans to hear all their favorite songs of hers at just one show. (Which means, of course, we just have to go see her as many times a possible!) Understanding that, and understanding also that Ms. Diana has certain songs she has more or less retired from her retinue, we can still dream, can we not? So I propose in this thread that you post your ideal show setlist, and, if you like, where you'd best like to see Diana perform. The only constraint: I seldom, if ever, hear of Diana and her accompanists performing more than 16 songs in one sitting, so limit, please, your setlist to 16, maximum.

Here's my starting contribution, which I may refine later. At the Monterey Jazz Festival, I'd love to see Diana Krall and the full CHJO perform:

Let's Fall In Love
Exactly Like You
You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me
Dancing In the Dark
Love Letters
If I Had You
A Case of You
East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)
Frim Fram Sauce
Popsicle Toes
I'll String Along With You
You Call It Madness
Little Girl Blue
I Don't Know Enough About You

---

I Remember You
Black Crow

finis

I think this setlist provides a good mix of uptempo, fun, happy songs and deeper, more somber, penetrating songs. It's heavy on "When I Look In Your Eyes", "All For You" and "The Look of Love," but, then, these are my three favorite of her albums (so far, at least, my tastes are evolving). I would also note that this list of 16 leaves out some very beloved numbers, including: "S'Wonderful", "The Look of Love" and "I Miss You So" among many others. But I think it would be a superb show.

I especially would love an encore starting with the distinctive, ringing bass line, followed by the soaring flutes, that starts my favorite DK song, "I Remember You" and ending with the meandering, dreamy, wanderlusty "Black Crow." On a beautiful, late summer day on the Monterey Peninsula, well, that would be heaven.

OK, it's your turn!

Hi Chris! Good idea  although hard because Diana have so many good songs.

Well, here I go:

I love being here with you
The look of love
Sometimes I just freak out
I miss you so
Peel me a grape
East of the sun and West of the moon
Almost Blue
From this moment on
Popsicle toes
Devil may care
They can't take that away from me
Love me like a man
How deep is the ocean and how high is the sky
Frim Fram Sauce
You're getting to be a habit with me
Narrow daylight

Hi Sam! Thanks for the kind words. I like your setlist a lot, especially two of the songs you worked in that I omitted: How Deep Is the Ocean and Narrow Daylight. I think Narrow Daylight is amazing. It occupies a similar space in my mind and heart to that of Black Crow. Both dreamy, otherworldly, mystical. Very nice!

I very much hope you get to see Diana when she comes to Brazil, Sam. It would be a delight you'd never forget, of that I am sure. (Heck, in Brazil, Sam, she probably WOULD perform "Popsicle Toes." This would of course make me quite green with envy, but very happy for you. :)

Cheers,

-CS

Yes... Would be sweet hear Popsicle Toes (Live), by the way, would be wonderful hear Diana Krall in Brazil...
Good to know you like my setlist because were very hard choose only sixteen songs. Actually there are many songs by Diana that I don't know (still). Who knows after I post a new list (I guess will be more complicated, but that's okay).
