Marvelous performance. Her pro Obama anti Bush comments out of place, and no doubt will not be well received as the tour moves south.

Welcome to the board, Jerry!

Glad you enjoyed her concert. She also has a lot of west coast time left on the tour, where I'm sure her political leanings will go over pretty well! :)

In most cases, Krall does not just introduce a song by its title, then perform it. Rather, she gives it somewhat of a foreplay, rambling, sometimes chattering, in a manner that suggests general ideas but little script for her patter, then engages in a jam session, generously allowing her sidemen for the occasion -- Anthony Wilson, guitar; Robert Hearst, bass, and Jeff Hamilton, drums -- shares of the solo spotlight with her own estimable skills at the Steinway.

A large cheer erupted from the large audience when Krall mentioned having sung for the president and Mrs. Obama in Washington, and this prompted her, she explained, to include a certain Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields tune on her program since Obama had used that title in his inaugural address. The title shared by Krall and Obama: "Pick Youself Up."

Thanks Bud ! Been a jazz fan and a fan of hers for a long time. Saw her in person for the first time at the Litchfield (CT) Jazz Festival about 10 years ago. She was terrific then, but my has she (and her fan base) grown....

Only wish she would leave the political stuff ( OK to mention performance at the White House but why contrast to previous administration )to the Dixie Chicks, Streisand and the likes. Only my opinion...
