Oh yeah, maybe I'll get to see Diana before the year is out!!

Charlottesville is the home of the University of Virginia, where my son is going. Assuming my Tampa trip (20 Nov) schedule works out, I'll be in C'ville on the 18th.

Thanks Andrea and Coda! I'm sitting at a Safeway near work right now. Wouldn't want to get rudely interrupted at the instant tickets become available :D

Success!! Three seats to the rear of the center orchestra section, and right in the middle of the row A little further back than I prefer, but supporters of the venue had taken up most of the seats closer to the stage, and rightly so.

Pumped :blob:

Thanks Sue and Coda! Actually, I don't know what I'm complaining about. I'm in row 0 which for a large venue like Wolf Trap is nearly in front. And this theater only goes to row R, I believe, so it's pretty small. Should be the smallest venue I've ever seen her play

Apologies for being so delinquent!!! I'll explain in a bit and post a recap. In the meantime, here are a few photos by Charlottesville's Rob Garland (http://www.robgarland.com/), who I believe shoots a lot of Paramount events.

Again, my apologies for being so slow to post a review!!! Been on the road constantly since the concert. Home now though

Here's most of the set list. I know I'm forgetting something, and it's
not in order. There definitely was no sign of staples All or Nothing
at All, or S' Wonderful.

I Love Being Here with You
Quiet Nights
Walk on By
I've Grown Accustomed To His Face
Jockey Full of Bourbon
A Case of You
Tom Waits song (I didn't recognize it)
Just You, Just Me

Encore:
Fly Me to the Moon
East of the Sun (West of the Moon)

The sidemen were Karriem Riggins, Anthony Wilson, and Robert Hurst.

Diana chatted quite a bit, more than usual, I think. She mentioned
this was her first US concert in over a year. She worked in a
Partridge Family related joke - I won't say any more than that, in
case she uses it again (everyone remembers the Partridge Family,
right?) She talked about not liking her stint as a standup singer
during Public Enemies, and she has no desire to repeat the experience.
She said she auditioned just playing the piano. The best part of the
experience, she said, was Johnny Depp. The encore was preceded by a
few words about her early desire to be an astronaut.

The theater was relatively small. Although it's known for its
acoustics. I had some difficulty hearing the vocals. Also, Diana was
fighting off a bit of a cold - although nothing on the order of the
2009 tour - and I sensed she was struggling with her voice. Her piano
playing was fantastic as always!

Thanks for that, Bud.

Was the other Waits song Clap Hands, by any chance? She's been known to do that one in concert from time to time.

I love that bird's view photo, BTW.

Yes, thanks for the recap, Bud. Different set of songs, to be sure.
And I agree with scielle -- love the overhead pictures!

scielle - Could have been Clap Hands. Can't swear to it though :sigh:

One thing I didn't mention eariler. The organizer of the fundraiser, Mary Beth Aungier, during her opening remarks, gushed over how wonderful it was to work with Diana's crew. She called them "angels," and you could tell she meant it! Mary Beth also said that the attitude must "start at the top." The comments must have really touched Diana, because she sincerely thanked Mary Beth for them, near the end of the show.

Here's a picture of Diana with Mary Beth:

I failed to put "So Nice" on the set list. She definitely played it :dunno:

I think Mary Beth Aungier must be very astute! :)
