Una serata diversa e speciale rispetto ai classici concerti della Cavea Auditorium Parco della Musica, dove Diana Krall e il suo ensemble (elegante, musicalmente parlando, proprio come lei) hanno in maniera rilassata e composta eseguito alcuni classici del Jazz e del Blues degli anni ‘20 insieme a quelli degli anni ‘60 e ‘70, fino ad alcuni dei suoi brani più celebri, passando anche per omaggi illustri (Irving Berlin e Tom Waits).
L’artista canadese ha quasi cantato in acustico, con un volume limitato e accogliente, che non ha coperto il rumore del vento di una serata fresca e uggiosa, dopo i temporali pomeridiani che hanno attraversato (e allagato) la città di Roma. I gabbiani facevano festa, forse rinfrancati da tanta aqua e pozze per il Parco, e continuamente passavano sopra la “testa” del palco cantando e dialogando con la voce di Diana Krall!
I musicisti che guardavano spesso il cielo, sorridevano, e accoglievano commossi la magia della serata.
Con Diana Krall voce e pianoforte; Stuart Duncan chitarre e violino; Aram Bajakian chitarra elettrica; Dennis Crouch contrabbasso; Patrick Warren alle tastiere e Karriem Riggins alla batteria, l’ensemble di Diana Krall ha formulato un concerto colloquiale e coivolgente. L’artista ha raccontato aneddoti della sua vita quotidiana e familiare, del suo amore per i figli, della casa in Canada, dell’emozione che le dà la pioggia e di come le piaccia osservarla e respirarla, e ancora del cambio delle stagioni, del matrimonio e dei fidanzamenti andati e perduti.
Il tutto raccontato dai classici della musica americana, visto che i brani che esegue non son altro che un riassunto di questi piccoli grandi temi, che raccontano le emozioni dell’essere umano con poesia e romanticismo.
Non troppi virtuosismi, ma un tono costante e tenuto per tutto il live, ad eccezione degli assoli di chitarra elettrica, spesso arrembanti e coinvolgenti. Il meglio al piano la Diana lo dà nel boogie woogie, mentre con la voce sa incantare in qualsiasi tipo di pezzo.
La Cavea non era piena ma comunque ben occupata, considerando anche che, la stessa serata, aldilà del Ponte della Musica, suonava un certo Leonard Cohen, come genere non troppo lontano da ciò che canta la Krall. Ma molti, nonostante la concomitanza, hanno scelto di essere con la divina Krall. E non hanno avuto torto.
