Montreux recibió a Diana Krall

"We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye", "There Ain't No Sweet Man That's Worth The Salt of my Tears" y "Just Like a Butterfly" fueron el primer plato con el que Krall deleitó al público del abarrotado Auditorio Stravinski. "Claude Nobs", dijo casi susurrando y le dedicó "What I'll do", de Irving Belin.

Diana Krall received Montreux

The Canadian pianist and singer made an intimate concert

Jazz was the real star today in Montreux yesterday because the singer and pianist Diana Krall gave a concert festival intimate that returned to its true essence, creating an atmosphere typical of the dance halls and music clubs in the thirties.

The artist, born in Canada in 1964, began the show with the first three songs from his latest album, Glad Rag Doll, "an album of song and dance", as she has defined it. This is a work steeped in small-listening songs with his father at home, songs of the 20s and 30s, which has managed to give a vision of the XXI century: "As if they had been written yesterday," said the artist.

"We Just Could not Say Goodbye", "There Is not No Sweet Man That's Worth The Salt Of My Tears" and "Just Like a Butterfly" were the first dish that Krall crowd packed the Auditorium Stravinski. The first moment of ecstasy came with "Temptation" by Tom Waits, when Krall was unimpressed by the musicians who accompanied her on stage, fiddler Stuart Duncan and guitarist Aram Bajakian, who received several plaudits. After the storm came the calm, the musicians left, the lights, Krall was left alone with his piano and a gramophone that decorated the stage. "Claude Nobs" said almost whispering and gave him "What I'll do", Irving Belin.

Claude Nobs, founder and architect of the Montreux Jazz Festival, which this year celebrates its 47th edition, passed away earlier this year in a skiing accident. After the disappearance of Nobs, the festival management was entrusted to one of his closest collaborators, Mathieu Jaton, 37, who will determine the future of the event. Despite promising to keep the changes that had launched Nobs, Jaton has brought this issue more conservative programming, jazz, blues and intimacy are again the protagonists, Diana Krall is an example of this
