Hey Everyone! I was just notified that I've won the Sonoma Jazz Festival Concert contest! I'm in a state of shock, thought this was already over with, but I guess it's not. I'm just now filling out paperwork to get everything going. I'll let you all know about our weekend when we return.
I never win anything, so let's just say this is so great! :D :D :D :D

WHOOOOPIDDYDOOOOO!!!

Congrats Sue!
Maybe we'll see ya there. Remember it's a winery, so we've got to try and stay sober for the concert! :alcohol:

I'm still waiting to get ticket information, hotel information, etc. I think it would be nice to meet other DK fans so when I find out ticket information I'll try and let you all know. It should be fun!

There will be 3 of us native San Franciscans at the concert. Me, imnoangel1975, and TRXC...and now you! We'll for sure have to meet up.

Just received my "free tickets" from Verve, and, they are General Admission ones. Not what I was expecting, so am a little dissapointed. I've been told because this is a very popular show (of course we all know that!), and that I need to be there in line very early to get the best seats that will be available to me. I'm not familiar with the seating layout, so I'm wondering from the three that are going and have tickets, can you guys help me out and tell me if I'm going to have decent seats even if we can't get there early? We are flying in and then driving up to Sonoma in the late afternoon. Any info you all have would be appreciated.

Thanks!

First, congratulations on winning the contest, Sue. I wouldn't be disappointed because they're general admission tix, because, frankly, I was lucky to get any tickets to that show. They sold out in 10 minutes! In fact, some of the general admission seating is better than what I was able to get. Any any rate, it'll be a fantastic seat because you'll be seeing Diana Krall LIVE! No bad side to that.

As far as the venue, I would get there as early as possible. I believe there is an event at nearby Infineon Raceway, which brings a tremendous amount of traffic. And, with the weather finally clearing up, many folks are going to be traveling to the Wine Country for the weekend, so it'll probably be a huge traffic nightmare.

The "Field of Dreams", the venue for the concert, is actually a big tent (Yes, Diana has resorted to doing tent shows! ). The seats are fold out chairs. Go to sonomajazz.org for the venue layout. As SaxLix said, we'll all be there, so perhaps we'll all meet up.

thanks very much for the info. We're now having horrible luck with airline reservations too. This is not turning out well for us. I don't think waiting till the last minute to get a winner was such a great idea for this contest. I'll update you all later as to how this all turned out. I'm not upset at anyone, just dissapointed that we may not get there in time. Will keep you posted.

Enjoy the show!

Congratulations gundy516! I had planned to make the trip up to Sonoma from Southern California. That was until I saw the extortionate rates local hotels were charging for that weekend :eek
Good luck finding a flight and have fun! Should be a great show. Those winery gigs always are.
