Joss Stone - rising star or one more "factory" pro

I was listening to "The Soul Sessions" and a thought crossed my mind: what do DK fans think about this 16-year-old Brit?

Personally, I think his debut album is very refreshing, very pleasant. The songs flow easily making listening to this album a very relaxing (and sometimes very vibrant) and pleasant experience.

And what a voice! The first time I heard "I've fallen in love with you" I had no idea who Joss Stone was and I couldn't be more surprised.

Of course she doesn't have the mature voice and expression that comes from a whole life experience that other singers in this style have, but the good thing about this girl is that she doesn't try to be someone she isn't. And she really enjoys what she's doing. And these two facts are reflected in her work; only someone very passionate about what he/she does can transmit that kind of energy. She has her own style, her own posture towards music. And I truly believe that these days that is a remarkable feature in a young singer, as most of them look and sound like equal products in the factory that today's music industry is.

I honestly think that there is much more excellent material to come from this young girl...

Been listening to her for a little while. I hope she is more than just a flash in the pan. You're right - what a voice. Saw her on Leno, she needs more stage time.

What about Jammie Cullum? I heard this young man a few weeks ago and I think there's a bright future ahead of him...

Picked up his CD as well. Still trying to decide if I like it. He's certainly getting a lot of attention.

I've been listening to his CD and I must say I think he won't be a one-time hit. He has an interesting voice and These are the days (an original) is a great song. Only time will tell...

Scullers

For those in the Boston area - he will be playing Sculler's TONIGHT.

My radio station (BOS) has been pitching him as "Sinatra in sneakers"

I think I like the CD - still getting used to his versions of Singin in the Rain and I Get a Kick Out of You.

Has anyone heard of Breanna? The iTunes musci store is giving away a track of hers this week.

I think I Get A Kick Out of You is one of the best accomplished songs in the record... I think he is great, particularly as a piano player...

Still just trying to get used to his sound - I do like the Wind Cries Mary - although that seems to be the Hendrix cover du jeur (did I spell that right?) There is a new Hendrix cover album out where Sting is covering the Wind Cries Mary - the CD is called Power of Soul.

Just noticed that the subject field is a little small when you post for a message.

My previous post was asking about Renee Olstead. She is on the CBS show Still Standing - plays the younger of the 2 duaghters. She turns 15 this week. You can hear samples at reneeolstead.com

There are three Joss Stone videos on Launch.com, and I am very impressed, especially with her cover of The White Stripes "Fell in Love With [Boy]." She's great! I'm thinking about getting her CD.
