First jazz album to be so nominated since WILIYE. Definitely pulling for Herbie tonight!

He won! Herbie acknowledged the academy for its courage in selecting jazz! (Wasn't Diana's album the last jazz album nominated for this category? And weren't there only about four jazz albums ever nominated at all? Wow!)

Congrats to Herbie. Well deserved!
Does Norah Jones'
Come Away With Me count as a jazz album?

I love Maiden Voyage, which every jazz fan should own, but I'm not what you'd call a huge Herbie fan. Saw Herbie live at the Playboy Jazz Fest a few years back and this cat nearly put me to sleep. Bought my girl the Joni Letters back in December and was blown away. While the guest star vocals are nice, it's the playing that puts this album over the top. Highly recommended.

Definitely one of my all time favorites, too! I have it in CD and vinyl...
