I didn't understand the need for such a huge bow on Charlize Theron's dress. Otherwise, it was quite lovely.

By the way, call me weird, but I really enjoyed the spoof of the musicians "playing off" Tom Hanks' fake long acceptance speech! I loved how they started surrounding him and the the violin being smashed on his head and the tranquilizer dart coming out of the clarinet (?).

I still laugh thinking about it...seems almost Monty Pythonish to me.

Can I be blunt ? On the whole fashion designers didn't do a very good job. I found most dresses to be rather dull or kind of wrong. What a pity.

But I enjoyed the red carpet shots, there is always a comforting conclusion to draw if you want to look for it. Mine was that getting a suitable dress for such an event is probably a big headache (even though certainly, it is more exciting a headache than having to wonder how you are going to pay for a medical bill). I thought of my one and only long evening gown, and how I wouldn't want to exchange it for any of those I saw. And it is not stunning. Was I content.

This British newspaper (the Guardian) also did a best dressed rating. Their favorite was Uma Thurman. I think I agree. And, among others, they also liked Dolly Parton.

Incidentally guys, about Dolly Parton... Her breasts, do you think they are real ?

Of course they are real. They're certainly not a hologram.

I once saw Dolly in concert and she joked about someone in the front row with binoculars !!!..... she completely understood what he was looking at.... and she assured him they were all hers !!!!
