I wondering; has Diana ever done this type of appearance before?

I seem to recall she did something like this at Virgin Records in San Francisco some years ago. Anyone want to back me up?

(Bowing to Bud a la Wayne and Garth from "Wayne's World")

We're not worthy!
We're not worthy!
We're not worthy!

;)

Thanks again, Bud: you continue to amaze.
Every day, to myself I say,
Point the way, what would it be?
I ask myself what's the best thing for you,
And myself and I seem to agree,
That the best thing for you would be me. ... :)

Jeez, I don't think I deserve any of this!

Thinking back on it, the reason I remembered the SF appearance was because it was a few days before her Masonic Auditorium concert, which I managed to fly out for in conjunction with something else I needed to go to. But unfortunately I didn't fly out early enough to go to the signing.

As for finding things on the web, this stuff must kind of be in my blood :D Google Headquarters is my hometown. If you draw a line from Google to Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, the house I grew up in is roughly the halfway point on that line...

If memory serves, I think Diana did an in-store signing in Chicago a few years ago, as a thank-you to the store owner who had been really supportive of her earlier in her career. Does anyone else remember that?

I vaguely recall that one of the fansite members had gotten Diana's autograph and had commented on that Diana was wearing cologne and drinking some coffee during the signing.

"I Just Found Out About Love".

Cool! She performed that one in Boston. It was a treat.

Just checked on the Music Direct web site and this album will also be available in vinyl. I have two vinyl LP's so far, Diana's GITOR and Christmas Songs. I haven't played them yet, but they are framed and on my wall in my office.

I listened to the album today. Although there isn't a bad song on it, I regret that some of her albums are neglected on this 'Best Of'.Some choices from TGITOR, Christmas Songs and (more from) FTMO would have benefitted this album. Now the songs have all pretty much the same pace. Some up-tempo numbers and the horns from the Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra would have made this album perfect.

Reading the credits in the booklet I see that “The Heart of Saturday Night” is described as a unreleased track from the GITOR sessions , so that album is , in a way, represented on this collection. ' Only The Lonely' is also credited as a track from an album recorded before Diana and Elvis' relationship commenced so there goes my theory about it being inspired by Elvis' fondness for the Sinatra album of the same name. There is also a note dedicating the collection to Diana's father.

This is what I remember from looking at a copy in a Dublin store yesterday. I didn't purchase because they were looking for €19.95 for the single disc version. Hopefully the edition with the extras will turn up somewhere.

I'm gonna try to go!

Postby christratton on 17 Sep 2007, 02:06

Coda:

I hope to get there. I am trying to put together a group of friends to go. One friend of mine who lives in the NYC area, who normally would love to go, cannot, as she is the maid of honor in a friend's wedding the next weekend and has reheasal stuff that weekend. Bummer! I have another friend or two I am talking with about it. Wish me luck.

I've decided I'm gonna ask DK to autograph my iPod if I go. I will have downloaded the three new songs from the new album (I may just buy the CD, too), so they'll be on the Pod. Might just show her my Top 25 Most Played List, which features "I Remember You" at #1, "Popsicle Toes" at # 3, as well as "S'Wonderful," "I Miss You So," "Dancing in the Dark" and "Little Girl Blue." She might get a kick out of that.

So, Coda, if I tell her you said "Hi", she will remember you? Do I recall you were one she called out in a show? Was that you? If so, that is pretty cool.

Cheers,

-CS

Chris, that was Karla, not me. I've never met her in person. A couple years ago, I did send along a note -- along with some other fans on this site -- for Diana's 40th birthday. (Remi thought of this wonderful idea and Michelle helped get the letters to Diana.) I've been on this site for a while, but I don't know if Diana would remember seeing my Username on this site before it became restricted with a password. It's such a long shot.

For your sake, I hope you get to meet her...you seem like such a wonderful and intense fan.

That was awfully nice of you to say, Coda. Thank you! I am working on putting something together. So many of my people have stuff on Saturdays, what with kids and all. :( I'd really rather go along with friends and not alone. We will see what happens.
