Another great interview with Diana on BBC radio, Oct. 07

Postby johnfoyle on 12 Sep 2007, 19:51

There was quite a relaxed, humorous interview with Diana on the BBC radio 4 arts review programme covering quite a range of topics: women in music, family life, etc.

You can hear it for 7 days

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/frontrow/

- its the Tuesday show and the interview starts about 6 mins into the programme.

Diana relates some recent advice that Barbara Streisand gave her regarding performing at The Hollywood Bowl ( 'Just suck it in and sticks those boobies out') and there is a extract from 'Only The Lonely ' (and very tasty it sounds) from the 'Best of..'.

John:

This is lovely. Thank you so much for giving us the link. Most kind of you. Isn't Diana such a fine person? I just admire and respect her so much.

Every day, to myself I say,
Point the way, what would it be?
I ask myself what's the best thing for you,
And myself and I seem to agree,
That the best thing for you would be me. ... :)

Oh wow, she really has loosened up a lot! This is a very different-sounding DK interview than what I'm used to hearing.

My sense is that the twins and mothering have loosened her attitudes up quite a lot. Kids can be so humbling, even as they are so wonderfully enriching.

Great listen. Diana sounds very relaxed and I think she's very comfortable at where she is right now both personally and professionally. She's doing what she loves to do and what's right for her to do so cheers to Diana!

I agree, she did sound really relaxed! It didn't sound like a phone interview, so I wonder where it was taped? I'd imagine BBC has a studio in NYC...

"Kids can be so humbling, even as they are so wonderfully enriching," says Chris.

Here, here! Chris, I couldn't agree more. There are few things that bring you back down to earth faster than a dirty diaper...and few things as moving as having your baby fall asleep in your arms or watching them really communicate with you with their eyes or have them open their arms to you to pick them up.

I really applaud Diana for taking her young boys with her on the road, for being so committed to motherhood as well as her career.

The BBC interview was wonderful.

Diana Krall on this week's Loose Ends.

Clive Anderson presents with guests:

Grammy award winning jazz vocalist Diana Krall has recently released "The Very Best of Diana Krall" on Verve Records. Diana talks about her career and plays "A Case Of You".

' I just recorded , like , twenty tunes , solo piano in a studio' she says at one point.

Diana's song performance is very breathy , semi narrated , due to her cold. Very 'Tom Waits' ....very sexy...
