Little Girl Blue

I was more than a little annoyed that Diana omitted the waltz time bridge in "Little Girl Blue." That part is integral to the composition, and sets up the final verse beautifully.

Why did she do that? :?

Sorry to disagree with you on your first post here, Lewis, but as for me, I don't know if anyone has ever performed "Little Girl Blue" more beautifully than do to Diana Krall and the CHJO, and that includes even the great Ella Fitzgerald herself, to my ears. Check these two out for yourself:

I absolutely love John Clayton's stirring bowed bass intro and outro to the song. Deeply affecting.

I speak from having had the experience this past July 12 in Connecticut of seeing Diana perform this song live with Clayton, Hamilton and Wilson. A fan of only a few months at that time, I hadn't yet taken note of this lovely song. It took my breath away, and that of my friend who went with me. So you have in me one who is very much in Diana's corner, and never moreso than w/r/t this song. So it's one fellow's opinion, but very strongly felt.

Cheers, and welcome aboard here, Lewis.

Every day, to myself I say,
Point the way, what would it be?
I ask myself what's the best thing for you,
And myself and I seem to agree,
That the best thing for you would be me. ... :)
