Elvis even played a mini-set with The Odds to kick off the Canucks-Predators game 2 tonight in Vancouver.

Thanks, karla!

Obviously they weren't happy with the outcome, since the Canucks were less than 2 minutes from winning at the end of the third period. There seems to be something just wrong with a Canadian hockey team losing to one from Nashville :eek

Aren't most of the guys on the Nashville team Canadian anyway?
(This is why I don't get pro team sports, where they trade players like commodities - how do you cheer for your home team, if everyone on it is from elsewhere?)

Thanks for the pictures, Karla!

To be honest, I'm a little surprised she and Elvis attended in such clichéd attire  :dunno: :aaah

Very intriguing picture, Bud! I see the guy in the row behind had on a pair of sunglasses, too. (Must be contagious.) And it looks as if he's licking the hand of another green outfitted person. Then there was the two-dimensional picture of another blonde woman.

Anybody know what was going on?

This is all pretty rich! You're picking up on a lot of tidbits I overlooked!

Another mystery is the earlier picture of Diana and Elvis. They look as though they're sitting nearly alone. Why would that be? When during the pre-game or game would they be isolated? Playoff games are always packed! And there are plenty of people in the green men picture!

Here's more on the green man phenomenon: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_d ... nhl-wp3963

By the way, I believe the cardboard cutout is Carrie Underwood. Why Carrie Underwood, I have no idea :eek

I think the story says Carrie Underwood is married to one of the hockey players. I see the article also mentioned the ban on throwing octopi on the ice, which has been a tradition in Detroit. (I believe it's supposed to stand for the eight games of the playoff.) The octopus throwing was considered okay for a long time in Detroit. Cartoon images of an octopus often were included in advertising about/around hockey. Now it's not...someone was even taken to court in Detroit for throwing an object (an octopus) on the ice that could endanger the players. I understand the octopus tradition, but I don't like the idea of tossing an animal carcass on the ice. (Of course, it's easier to smuggle a dead octopus into the arena than some other dead animals...could you imagine someone tossing a dead cow on the ice? How would you smuggle it in? Just put a Red Wings jersey on it and hoist it on your shoulder? ;) ) I do think that taking the octopus-throwing guy to court was a little over the top...considering that the hockey players endanger each other more than a dead octopus.

I don't follow the NHL too closely; I wasn't even aware the Finals had come down to a Game 7 last night. But obviously I do now. Wow, when it comes to ridiculous sports riots, these Canucks crazies make Bud's San Fran savages and my LA animals look like amateurs.

It's too bad. Probably involved people who had been served beyond their capacity. But today, I also saw a picture of a couple making out horizontally in the middle of a rioting street. Go figure.
