My favorite is Joni Mitchell's, "A Case of You" too. For a really swinging song my favorite is "Love Me Like a Man.'
"Maybe You'll Be There" is right up there also.

Its interesting to see so many people picking A Case Of You from the Live In Paris DVD.There are so many strong performances on there, all of them standards and even with that, what she did with the Joni Mitchell song was really special,I thought, and I would agree that Love Me Like A Man from Live At The Montreal Jazz Festival is right up there, also.

Of course 'A Case of You' is a fave...But it still doesn't quite de-throne 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' for me. ;)

The whole Live in Paris is outstanding. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite...I'd probably go with I Love Being Here With You because of the looseness and jam session quality from LiP.

I am partial to 'Maybe You'll be There', but the live version of BOBD that I have heard twice now is THE BEST.... I only wish DK would put it on a CD !!!

If I had to name just one, I'd say: "Let's Face the Music and Dance." It was my main introduction to Diana's music (heard on a store sound system -- I love the bossa nova groove and I was just impressed (floored, actually!) with her music without any of the "packaging/appearance issues" that people often bring up. I went up to the store cashier and asked who had sung that song. I wanted to buy the CD on the spot but they had run out. (So I got it later as a gift.) But my first introduction to Diana's music was on Jay Leno. My husband and I were up late folding baby clothes and we saw her perform. I don't rememember the song, and she looked a little nervous, but I thought she did a great job I remember telling my husband that I liked her music. But hearing LFTMAD a few months later really did it for me.

If I would add a few more, I'd include: "Why Should I Care?" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Case of You" and "Almost Blue" (IMHO, all of these show Diana channeling a powerful depth of emotion without going over-the-top). I love "Black Crow" because it grooves so well and "All or Nothing at All" from the Live in Paris album because I love seeing the group move from the basic rendition in the beginning to full-blown solos where they really lose themselves in the best sense of the word, back to a quiet, elegant ending. In musical terms, it reminds me a bit of doing the "mamma-daddy" exercise on the drums, starting out with slow single drum strokes with each hand, moving to quicker double strokes, then winding down to slower single strokes again.

Also, I forgot "I've Got You Under My Skin." I love the unconventional take on the song, and when she sings the final word "skin" on the song, it just gets to me.

Yes.I think you put it right when you say channelling a powerful depth of emotion without going over the top-understatement is a beautiful thing when its used like that and she is a master of it.Every ballad on Live In Paris is like that-I don't know how many times I've played that by now but I still get goosebumps.

My favorite is 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams'. It is something about the song, and the way DK sings it that does something to me. It is such a beautiful song.

I think my favorite song is 'Devil May Care' from the Live in Paris CD. It's a very special song for me... and this PIANO SOLO, it's imazing how she 'flys' over the grand piano :D

The version of "A Case of You" from the Joni Mitchell TV Tribute for me, just beats out the "Live in Paris" version.

The other song for me is "Why Should I Care" from When I Look In Your Eyes - it reminds me of a painful part of my life and she captured my feelings to a T in only the way Diana can.

I correct myself. My favourite DK song is "Temptation" where there's a strong tango vibe. It's funny. Everytime I put it on , It lures me into doing
some tango moves in my livingroom !! LOL
