;) Maybe the headline writer was trying to avoid the word "enthrall"!

Interesting bit of writing. It makes me wonder if the writer likes living in Arizona.

Reread the review, and it still seems off. Its interesting that she only played a single encore. Even at my York concert, when she was really sick, she played two...

Yeah, weird review.

He really does seem to dislike DK's Arizona-retiree audience, and strangely equates their lifelessness with DK's music.

I sort-of understand the disdain for the audience (no one on this board of course). For years I've sat next to yuppie wine-and-cheese stiffs at DK shows. DK and company are swingin', and they sit there like corpses. Not a head boppin', not a toe-a-tappin'. Whatever. To each his own.

But there's no need to knock the over-60 jazz/standards fans. The 70-plus-year-old-guy sitting in front of us last night in Vegas was LOVING it, playing air drums along with Hamilton and shouting "Yeah!" and "Go Baby!" during extended solos. Didn't matter what song DK was playing.

We all know Joni Mitchell's lyrics are infinitely deeper than Cole Porter's. But there's room for both. DK knows it. We know it. This clown doesn't.
