The most memorable gig I ever saw was at a little Italian restaurant across from the Hillside Mall in Victoria (I forget the name; it's not there anymore). A pre-superstar Diana Krall was playing with her trio. She was starting to make a name for herself and family friends of hers were there, an older couple. Above the front of the stage was a vertical ladder affixed to the wall, which led, presumably, to a storage loft. The male half of the couple is taking photos of Diana and, to get a better and different angle, climbs the ladder. He disappears out of my site then loses his grip and falls backwards onto the stage, falling into the cymbals (I believe it was the crash cymbal -- or should have been). I think he cut himself on it. It was quite a fall for anyone, let alone an older guy, so the band had to take a break while an ambulance was called. Diana was quite upset.
