Shangri La - MK's new album

Postby Rémi on 08 Jul 2004, 19:53

Oye oye!
It's been a long time since I haven't talked about my preferred scottish guy, Mark Knopfler.

The master is back with a new album entitled "Shangri La" to be released on September, 27.
"Shangri La" is an old tibetan term that means "an imaginary distant beautiful place, where everything is pleasant and you can get everything you want" (I promise, MK stopped smoking some years ago! ;) )

Anyway, can't wait for September!!! :blob:

Track list:

1. 5.15 a.m.
2. Boom Like That
3. Sucker Row
4. The Trawlerman's Song
5. Back To Tupelo
6. Our Shangri-La
7. Everybody Pays
8. Song For Sonny Liston
9. Whoop De Doo
10. Postcards From Paraguay
11. All That Matters
12. Stand Up Guy
13. Donegan's Gone
14. Don't Crash The Ambulance

Latest news about MK...

Check out the new single Boom Like That video clip (5:40 mins of pretty cool music as usual with MK) and the Shangri La EPK (28 mins of interviews about the making of Shangri La, the music, etc.)
From what I have heard, I think Shangri La's gonna be MK's best solo album so far.

Mark Knopfler's Shangri-La is 2,500th SACD Release...

Yeah, cool! :D

Just a simple information, if you read further in the article, here is what you get:

Other SACD releases of note by the label include 70,000 units sold (outside of North America) of Diana Krall's The Girl In The Other Room

:D

Oh, btw, did I say Shangri-La was absolutely stunning, maybe the best MK solo album. I bought it the date of its release and I haven't stopped playing it since that day.

When I first saw the topic, this is what I thought to myself..

Hmmm.. Michelle Krall is releasing an album? What a musical family the Kralls must be...

It's the other MK.. I'll give it a listen when I visit a record store next time.

Talk about coincidences Wush.

Diana Krall (DK) has a younger sister, Michelle Krall (MK).
Mark Knopfler (MK) has a younger brother, David Knopfler (DK).

Mark Knopfler was born on 1949, his brother David on 1952 (they are 3 years old).
Diana Krall is also 3 years older than Michelle.

Hey Remi, MK was on World Cafe today (though I'm sure you already knew...) - anyhow, you can probably still catch it on some stations...

Hi Scielle,

No, I didn't know that (I haven't been on Mark's website for quite a long time). I don't think I will listen to it either since it's a radio show and I don't listen to radio. But thanks anyway.

BTW, did I already say Shangri-La was totally amazing? ;)
