Back from Vacation

Postby harpfingers on 15 Jul 2004, 07:01

I have been on vacation for the past two weeks over in S.E. Idaho and SLC Utah. I have just been getting caught up here on the board and have really enjoyed everyone's concert reviews. Looking forward to the Portland concert next week. DK is playing Salt Lake City, Utah tomorrow I believe... Here is the clincher, I was in SLC yesterday visiting my brother, and had to drive home late yesterday and today as I have two weddings to play for this weekend - Friday and Saturday. Bummer... if I didn't have the weddings, I would have stayed and tried to catch that concert. Oh well, looking forward to next week's concert, just watching the mail, waiting for those tickets.

My little sister was married last Friday and I slipped Look of Love into the CD changer at her reception. A lot of the guests liked it and asked who it was... sneaky, sneaky... I thought it added a lot to the ambience of the wedding reception. :-P

wedding

She was married in a private ceremony that morning that myself and a handful of others were present for. Then she had a formal reception that evening that about 300 people came to. She had a receiving line there, but only my parents and the grooms parents stood in it. The rest of us were dressed up, but we pretty much just wandered around and socialized with people and ate food off of the buffet table. :D Her wedding cake was chocolate - chocolate frosting, and chocolate cake with a mint filling. It also had chocolate dipped strawberries on top of it and each layer stood on separate glass vases/pedastools that were filled with jordan almonds. It was really different, but very neat. I will have to see if I can post a picture when I get some developed. I play for a lot of weddings, and this cake was unique. The flowers were beautiful, my mother ordered dozens and dozens of lavendar, pink and yellow roses from Columbia off of globalrose.com. It was really quite elegant.

Thanks for the welcome back... I am still watching the mail for my DK tickets, but they haven't come yet. We moved about a month ago, so I hope they are forwarded to my new address... all of my other mail has been forwarded, so I assume they will be as well. I think I may just call the ticket place still the same.
