OK, I kind of understand the Dodger connection. I'm definitely very happy to know that you're not rooting for a Texas team!

mapache61 wrote:It was about this time we began to grow VERY unhappy with McFraud. He was charging the fans increasingly outrageous prices to attend games, and obviously raking in lots of cash (the Dodgers typically lead the NL in attendance). To be fair, he was spending plenty of it to sign free agents, but thanks to the bungling, Giants-bred bonehead Colletti, much more often than not, these free agents were MAJOR busts. We're talking at least $150 million flushed down the toilet. Probably much more.

I sure am glad that my biggest baseball worries this year are whether the Giants can repeat as World Champs, and if Pablo Sandoval can keep his weight down!

thanks for the info mapache61! Man what guys have been thru.............it certainly isn't the Dodgers of old back in the day!
I guess we can only hope that a new owner can be found to get this organization back on track.

gundy, the story gets even better. And by better, I mean much, much worse.

As Colletti is signing these free-agent busts to ridiculous contracts, we begin to notice all the deals are loaded with deferred payments -- meaning the player will be payed his money in the future, often years after he's no longer a Dodger. Is McFraud cash-poor? Oh yes. But not really (more on that in a minute). So LA plays in two consecutive NL Championship Series (2008 & 09)-- losing both. To this day, McCreep crows about how successful the Dodgers have been under his ownership. He is the man responsible for it all. I beg to differ. With the exception of a few players and Manny Ramirez (who fell in LA's lap for free when Boston was desperate to get rid of him), the team's core players all came up through the Dodger farm system, and were drafted during the Fox ownership -- long before we were cursed with McBroke.

On the eve of the 2009 NLCS, the sh-t hit the fan when it was announced that McSlime and his wife, Jamie, were filing for divorce. His worthless wife was Team President at the time, and she also claims, half-owner of the Dodgers. McJackass fires her as President...and let's get ready for an ugly, divorce court rumble! As details of the divorce trial are reported by the media, we find out exactly where our $12 beer money and $15-for-parking bucks have been going, and it wasn't to sign top-of-the-line pitchers (Lee, Sabathia, etc), who could've possibly helped LA reach the World Series in 09. No, our cash was being used to fund the McCrooks' obscenely lavish lifestyles. How obscene? They bought seven beachfront mansions in Malibu (plus another in Beverly Hills), flew on private jets, got $10,000 haircuts, took plenty of "business-related" vacations I'm sure, put their worthless sons on the Dodger payroll, and even paid a six-figure salary to a Russian psychic to channel "positive vibes" to the Dodgers through his TV. I COULD NOT make this sh-t up.

So as you can see, during the economic meltdown of the past few years, the McCharlatans are the MLB-equivalent of the Wall Street and banking industry criminals who partied like rock stars while the rest of us schlubs hit rock bottom.

So now it's 2011. McScum is in charge while he and his ex-wife continue their legal battle over who owns the team. He's dead broke, yet somehow spending a bloody fortune on attorneys and paying the ex an obscene amount of money in alimony. On the field, the 2010 Dodgers' season was dreadful. Thanks to McBankrupt, whenever a big-name free agent comes on the market, we know there's zero-chance the Dodgers will sign him. And to top it all off, we Dodger fans sit here suffering while Bud dances around in his rally-thong and silly KungFu-Panda hat to lame Journey songs as the Orange-and-Black Devils from The Bay (our rivals) win the World Series.

The 2011 season begins on an ugly note. On Opening Day, in the Dodger Stadium parking lot, a Giants fan is beaten into a coma by two gangbangers wearing Dodger gear. (To anyone who thinks Dodger fans are nothing but animals, make no mistake. These two a-holes are not baseball or Dodger "fans." They couldn't explain the Infield Fly Rule or tell you the Dodgers' starting line-up if their worthless lives depended on it. They're brain-dead ghetto thugs who use the Dodgers as an excuse to get drunk, look for trouble and fight.)

Last week, McFilth reached new and terrifying levels of brokeness. Because he couldn't even afford to meet team payroll for the month of April, he went to the Fox Network and got a $30-million loan (a sort-of advance on a future TV-rights deal) just to pay this month's bills. The IRS is now investigating this loser for not paying a dime in federal taxes for the past ten years. And also, they'd like to know why McJerk's sons are on the Dodger payroll when they provide absolutely no services to the team. All this and the Giants' fan beating...it culminated in a perfect sh-t storm of embarrassment to MLB, the Dodger players, the fans, the city, everyone. The Puppet Commissioner stepped in, took over the team, and there you have it. Even though there's still a rough, ugly road ahead, this is why we're ALL thrilled with Wednesday's news.

WOW! Man this is stuff soap operas are made of..............what's going to be interesting is finding out why he was allowed to do this for so long? I wish you all in Dodger land the best of luck and hopefully the team survives.........Dodger Baseball must go one!
Thanks for the great information!

The stuff of soap operas? Oh yeah. And I even left out a bunch of other shennanigans, such as Frank McLowlife paying the head of the Dodgers charitable foundation (his buddy) a $400,000(!) annual salary, which is one-forth of the charity's annual budget. This is being investigated by the California Attorney General.

Why was he allowed to do this for so long? In case you haven't noticed, Fearless Commissioner Selig is notorious for his slow reactions to just about every problem in MLB (see: the steroid era).

The Dodgers will survive. I just feel bad for the younger fans. I remember the good times. All they've ever known is this garbage.

I still have hope for your Mariners. The Angels are looking weaker by the day. And Oakland stinks. However, I think the Rangers are going to be a problem for you.

And by the way...

Bud, you have absolutely NOTHING to worry about. If my team just won the WS, I wouldn't care if they went 0-162 the following season. I really wouldn't.

Hi Sue - I'm actually going to the game on Tuesday! Wanted to see Ichiro in person. I sit in Section 113, not too far below the concourse. You might see section 113 in the background when there's a right handed batter.

The Nats have been playing good ball lately. Their loss on Sunday ended an eight game winning streak.

Hi Sue - It was an entertaining game for us! I probably shouldn't admit this, but we left early and missed the miracle comeback :censured:

I don't blame you...............it should have been a win for us, unfortunately you could see bad things happening as soon as our closer came in. And then to get swept  .

Although the news of your skipper resigning must have made for interesting baseball talk around town. We had that happen a few years ago, but it was for a different reason. Interesting situation as I've been listening to the sports networks about this. I personally would have thought it best to honor his contract and just walk away at the end of the year, but one never knows these days.

Enjoy the rest of your season!

At first, I was blaming General Manager Mike Rizzo for letting things get out of hand. But my opinion has been shifting to be more in line with your's. It would have been better for Riggleman to stick it out.

Not sure about Davey Johnson as the new manager. Maybe mapache61 has an opinion, since Johnson last served as the Dodgers skipper?
