MountainBiking Anyone?

Postby russ on 06 Oct 2004, 11:13

I recently upgraded my department store mountain bike to a real mountain bike. I bought at 2005 Trek Fuel 70 and I love it. Does anyone else on the board mountain bike?

I have some pictures of some recent outings at Isaqueena Trail posted on the internet. I am wearing the red shirt... Check them out and maybe post some of your own.

congrats on your new bike, it does look like you had a fun outing. I.. um... don't even own a bicycle. It has been YEARS, since I had one- like highschool... but I DO own a station wagon ( does that count?)

Jeralee,
Does it have woodgrain siding or a luggage rack?

LOL- no wood grain siding, but yes, a luggage rack(I think). Just think Mercury Sable Wagon (circa 1994)

Hi, Russ:

Saw your pictures. Beautiful scenery...I especially liked the water falls. And I agree, it looks as if you had a lot of fun. You seem very comfortable with your bike (even riding it through the water), so I'm guessing you like to ride often?

I like to bike, but I think mine is considered a cross-bike. Most of the time, I ride in our neighborhood, and our family often takes short outings together. (It's getting more difficult now with the shorter day time hours.) I have two wire baskets on either side of the back tire and sometimes I go on my bike to a local grocery store to pick up a few items. We also take our bikes "up north" in Michigan when we go camping, and enjoy the natural scenery, too.

Coda,
Sounds like you have fun with your bikes. I ride as often as I can, which isn't very much any more, partially due to the daylight hours and working a 12 hour rotating shift...sometimes I just don't feel like it. Yeah, I am pretty comfortable on my bike, but it is the biggest one I have ever ridden and I am still a little skiddish on it. Every time I ride I gain a little more confidence in it and in my abilities. I feel like I am sitting 10 feet off the ground and that is a little weird. I took it and my son's bicycle when we went camping about 3 weeks ago. He loves to ride and is getting a new bike from Santa for Christmas...

Thanks for the complements on the pictures...lots of nice scenery around here.

Jeralee, I have some orange flame decals that I bought to put on my Bronco II (it seemed a good idea at the time) but didn't use. Would you like them for your station wagon?

orange flame stripes

Hmm, thanks Russ.... tempting.... but, no. I don't think orange would go so well with my dirty blue wagon. :D
