retired.....

Postby jazzanddianafan on 27 May 2005, 17:23

well, it is here !!.... after 32+ years with my company, yesterday was my last day on the job.... i am an official retiree !!!

it was an emotional and memorable last day, lots of calls from friends and a very nice goodbye luncheon.... my official atfer work hours retirement get together will be in late July...

i plan to still work a bit, i can contract back doing basically the same kind of work, but from my home..... but hopefully only have to work about 20-25 hours a week for the next few years and then retire completely after that...

for the first few weeks i am sure it will feel just like i am on vacation..... then one day it will dawn on me what i have done and i will begin the panic !!!!

Since my semi-retirement, one of my frequent dreams is that I'm back at my job and I'm either panicked because I know I shouldn't be there or I'm afraid I'm about to be laid off.

Congratulations! I love my job, but I dream of the day when I have the freedom to do some other things too. It sounds like you have the best of both worlds. Enjoy!

Congratulations Greg! I'm sure you've earned it.

Let's hear it for the old chap! ;) I mean... The best is yet to come. :alcohol:

Seriously though, I've heard a lot of people finally get to do things they enjoy when they retire. It's sad, but true. Here's to finding a great new hobby or adventure in your future!
