How are your gas prices?

Just bought some regular gas for $3.49 :(

One nearby station was out of gas completely.

Hold on to your hats, folks -- the whole country is going have a rough time recovering from Katrina, and not just in terms of gas prices. The economic and political ramifications could be staggering...

Re: Gas Prices

I have a Land Rover, and I need to fill up today. I estimate it's going to cost me @ $70.00 to fill up, unless I find something under $3/gallon. Last week alone, I ended up spending $105 for gas!

The thing that gets me is that, when I leave for work in the morning, the price will be, say $3.09/ga, but when I come home, it's up to $3.15/ga. What's up with that? I don't know if I can afford to go to work much longer if this keeps up.

I'm riding my bike to work.
It kills two birds with one stone.

I think it is around 2.85 here, but I am not complaining at all. I still have my home and family and didn't just lose it in a hurricane. The gas prices seem almost insignificant when you think of those affected by Katrina.

Last week (in Sacramento) I filled up the tank at $2.78 a gallon and the following morning the price had jumped to $2.95. Currently, we're paying anywhere from $2.95-$3.05 for regular and $3.15 for premium. In Greece the price is around 4.3 euros a gallon (which equals about $5.16), but Europe has always been more expensive than the US.

I'm trying to carpool to work at least two weeks a month, and if they come out with a hybrid SUV, then I'm buying!

But seriously, we haven't seen the end of the price hikes. Perhaps it is finally time to implement alternative methods of transportation?

P.S.
I've been gone a while, and it's good to be back.

And it's great to see you back, Ellie. Hope you've had a great start to the school year. Just so I stay on topic, gas in rural Indiana is currently $2.99.
