There will be a Canadian tour: http://broadwayworld.com/article/Canadi ... r_20090123

After nearly five years away from Canadian concert stages, Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist and pianist Diana Krall returns with a new tour in celebration and in support of her new Verve CD Quiet Nights, to be released in late March.

To fully showcase the sumptuous arrangements of Claus Ogerman on both Quiet Nights and Krall's material from Look of Love and When I Look in Your Eyes, Ms. Krall will be accompanied in concert by her usual sidemen Anthony Wilson (guitars), Jeff Hamilton (drums), John Clayton (bass) plus a 45-piece orchestra under the direction of conductor Alan Broadbent.

Influenced greatly by her many tour performances in Brazil, Ms. Krall refers to her new work as "not coy, like Peel Me a Grape, but womanly - like you're lying in bed next to your lover and whispering this in his ear." From Krall's refreshing version of "Where or When", to an utterly soul-stirring rendition of "You're My Thrill" the ten songs on Quiet Nights are disarming in their intimacy, as the music pushes unabashedly into the realm of sweet surrender. As Krall puts it, "It's a sensual, downright erotic record, and it's intended to be that way."

Two dollars for every ticket sold to the Diana Krall "Quiet Nights" World Tour 2009 will be proudly donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation's "The Heart Truth" campaign, with special thanks to founding sponsor, Becel.

Diana Krall adds US dates to 'Quiet' tour

Diana Krall has mapped extensive US summer tour plans in addition to her previously announced Canadian dates as she looks to support her forthcoming album.

The Canadian singer/pianist's trek through her home country gets underway April 15 in Calgary, Alberta. In June, Krall will kick off a 40-city US tour that runs through late August. The outing's New York City (6/23-24) and Los Angeles (8/21-22) dates will find the performer backed by full orchestras. The concerts in those two cities will take place at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, respectively. Krall's full itinerary is included below.
"Quiet Nights," Krall's 12th album, combines Brazilian and West Coast jazz styles, according to a press release. The set features three covers of songs originally composed by bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim. The set is due in stores March 31.

Krall co-produced the album with Tommy LiPuma (Miles Davis, Al Jarreau) and worked with composer/arranger Claus Ogerman, a frequent Jobim collaborator, for the first time since her 2001 LP, "The Look of Love."

"Quiet Nights" is Krall's first full-length studio release since 2006's "From This Moment On." In 2007, Verve released "The Very Best of Diana Krall," which is the singer's first career retrospective.
