Frankly, there were countless albums released this past year that far outshine Quiet Nights, IMHO. I'm glad it didn't get any nods because that would only encourage Verve/ Universal to push Diana in that same direction, and it's a direction I personally do not like one bit.
More piano, less strings please!

There's still an intriguing possibility for *next* year's Grammy's.

Here's the eligibility window as stated on the website:

For recordings released during the Eligibility Year October 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009

"Love is the Answer" came out in September...

I assume the window is changing this year for some reason. The 51st Grammy Awards page says:

For recordings released during the Eligibility Year October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008

Well, Claus won it.
Glad it wasn't David Foster. Not that I don't like cheering for the Vancouver Island boy, but he's had his share.

I hope with all the hoopla about the MJ tribute, they don't forget about the Leonard Cohen lifetime achievement award on the main telecast. I might be 50 years younger than the man, but no other songwriter resonates with me quite as much. Granted, I'm biased. I was named after one of his songs (Suzanne, if you must know).
Congratulations Leonard!

Appreciate the reminder, scielle!

Diana-related nominations did well tonight. Yo-Yo Ma's & Friends' "Songs of Joy and Peace" won best classical crossover album

Well-deserved, I think! I played that CD a lot during Christmas 2008 and 2009.
