Anyone been to any of these restaurants? I haven't, but I'd especially like to try Numbers 1 and 5.

Number 5, Manrese, in Los Gatos is about six miles away from The Mountain Winery where Diana often plays.

The 20 Most "Important" Restaurants....ugh. Leave it to Bon Appetit to be incredibly pretentious and go heavy on the NYC restaurants, where Conde Nast (BA's publisher) is located.

An old colleague of mine is an editor/writer at Bon Appetit. Last time I spoke with her (few years ago), she confirmed my suspicion: Bon Appetit is full of foodie snobs out of touch with reality.

That said, I have eaten at Swan Oyster in SF. Fantastic seafood. Bud, you haven't? What kind of Frisco native are you?

Unfortunately, I don't get to spend as much time actually *in* the city as I'd like, so I've never made it there. I'll make a point of it next time.

I can't believe that only place on the list that's in easy reach for me is Shake Shack. They have a concession at Nationals Ballpark.

Swan Oyster Depot is in the neighborhood of 100 years old, and you've never made it there?! Oh, brother. Even I've waited in line among the Giants-bandwagon-douches for Swan's awesome crab salad, shrimp, oysters, etc. SHAME on you, sir. As an LA native, it would be like I told you I'd never been to Langer's Deli -- home of the best pastrami sandwich on Planet Earth. Even honest New Yorkers would back me up on that claim.
