Just saw the nationally broadcast ad for the movie on "60 Minutes." Both DK and EC get mentioned and shown. Might have to show up on opening night, 25 June.

De-Lovely

Postby FrimFramMan on 21 Jun 2004, 04:48

...I just saw the commercial on the tube as well, but am too impatient (a 52-year old with ADD) to wait on the link.
Anyone know what tunes Mrs. Costello will sing in the flick?
By the way Scielle, regarding your sig-would that be Paris, Kentucky; Paris, Tennessee, or Paris, Texas???
...You can always find me down at Smokey Joe's!!

Because I work at a movie theatre, I've seen the 'De-Lovely' clip close to a hundred times by now. It's on all our TV screens in the lobby, running a loop of Coming Attractions.

I always look up when DK is mentioned in the line-up of Williams, Cole, Crow, Costello, and Morisette. She's wearing a lovely black dress, but it is impossible from the preview to tell what she's actually singing.

I had heard that it was going to be 'I Get a Kick Out of You', but I'm not 100% certain about that.
"You never know when she's going to come in for an avocado." - Diana Krall, on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn

Steve Greenlee: Ali Larter, the actress who plays Niki on the show (Heroes), could be your twin sister. She looks just like you.

Diana Krall: Poor thing.

Re: De-Lovely Songs

She sings "It Was Just One Of Those Things", which is per the soundtrack album advertised on Bravo this evening.
"Our emotions rise to meet the force coming from the screen, and they go on rising... When this happens in popular art form... it is sometimes disparaged as fannishness. But there's something that goes deeper than connoisseurship or taste. It's a fusion of art and love." - Pauline Kael

Oh, tisk-tisk. How about Paris, Ontario?
Though perhaps that would be too much of a purgatory...

And yes, Diana sings 'Just One of Those Things' - you can hear a clip from the official soundtrack here. I believe 'I Get a Kick Out of You' also appears in the movie. And Elvis sings a super version of Let's Misbehave.

Just rented this DVD and enjoyed it...Enjoyed the the whole flick, especially the classic songs. Diana was Darling, and Elvis was entertaining.....Sheryl Crow should do a pop CD......Kevin & Ashley played their roles great!!....On the bonus features in the music section Diana & Elvis voice their opinions on making the movie. :)

Just rented this last night as well and watched it. I really liked it, I love Cole Porter's music, and tend to play a lot of it at wedding receptions etc. I have had "Night and Day" going through me head all day today. :-P I thought it was well done. Kind of Like a combination of Dicken's Christmas Carol ( This is Your Life) done autobiographically, in musical style. It was a lot of fun.

My husband and I saw it in the theatre when it fist came out. He's not as much into Cole Porter music as I am, and he didn't think he'd enjoy the movie, but he did...he said it went by much faster than he thought, too.

As a nice little Christmas surprise, he got me the CD from the movie as a Christmas gift not on my list.
