Postby Bud on 07 Jan 2005, 13:40

The Critics' Choice Awards are bestowed by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Eric McCormack, star of the hit TV series "Will & Grace," will host the awards ceremony, and Tom Cruise will be honored with the "Distinguished Career Achievement in Performing Arts" award. Some of the nominees announced on December 15th include Paul Giamatti, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DeCaprio, Don Cheadle, Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman, Kate Winslet, Natalie Portmann and Cate Blanchett. And along with the award presentations, the show will include performances by Tony Bennett, Andrea Bocelli, Diana Krall, Patti LaBelle, Cyndi Lauper and Joss Stone.

Damn! I forgot to mark my calendar and missed the broadcast. According to the Critics' Choice site and my local tv guide, this was televised last night (1/10) on the WB network here in the US. Anyone catch it? Was Diana's performance included?

I did watch the awards show, and by the way has anyone seen the movie 'Sideways'? I'm thinking of going to see it as it does have a very interesting cast. Anyway, to answer the question about Diana performing, there were no musical guests on the broadcast. I think there might have been a misprint in the wire story as when I looked again to see what the listing was showing it seemed to be very very similar to the Nobel concert. Anyone else see that?

Hi Sue -- Not much of a thread, but we mentioned Sideways here:

I plan to see it again when it hits the local 2nd run theater...

Yes gundy516, I did find it kind of odd that the musical line-up was identical to the Nobel concert.
