No, no, I wasn't there. But since it seems I'm the unofficial Polish translator around here....

Setlist was more or less as usual, sans Almost Blue and Temptation, but with Jockey Full of Bourbon (oh, I want that bootleg), and On the Sunny Side of the Street (which she dedicated to Oscar Peterson) and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Apparently she made the Polish folk quite happy by working some Christmas carols, and some Chopin Mazurkas into her solos! (now I really want that bootleg!)

Here are some (blury) pictures

Oh, ad by the way, plenty of 'royal' references partout - all the newspaper articles had some sort of courly title like "Her Royal Jazz Highness" and yes "Princess Diana"... All in all, glowing reviews all around.

Some Chopin Mazurkas huh? It would be kind of interesting to hear her play a piece or two of classical music just for the heck of it. Sounds like it was a good mix of music.

I was looking at a Polish blog site, and understood very little (it's a long story) but I did see someone mention "Jingle Bells" on the set list, too.

Unfortunetly bootleg from this concert is unattainable. 2 person recorded it (2 cameras), but I don't know who :D
About concert... oh, you rather wouldn't know. Diana was wonderful, but Mr.Piątkowski (organizator) :/ Check out Polish forum http://dianakrall.freeserverhost.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41 (it's discussion about article, not only in Polish).
I love "Jockey Full of Bourbon" Fryderyk Chopin's "Mazurkas", "Jingle Bells" etc. was only quotations. Diana dedicated "Abandoned Masquerade" to Polish great pianist, composer and prime minister before 2nd World War- Ignacy Jan Paderewski :)
Greetings from Poland (and Polish Diana's Fan-Club)!

Ooo, good choice. I grew up listening to him. There was always plenty of classical piano music at my grandparents's house, mostly due to the influence of grandpa's good buddy Mr. Szpilman (a.k.a. The Pianist - yes that one!) My mom actually remembers, as a kid, hearing him play little after-dinner concerts in my grandparents' living room. Now how about that, eh?

Gotta love a country where a man can be both prime minister and composer/ pianist. We need more of those.

(Well, at least it gives me solace that the Chretiens are buddy-buddy with Oscar Peterson... Mrs. Chretien is a pianist of sorts - when I went to a friend's ARCT convocation at the Royal Conservatory of Music several years ago, Aline was there too, getting her diploma...)

Here's the write-up:

Canada's superstar of "smooth jazz," Diana Krall, gave a single concert at Warsaw's prestigious Congress Hall on December 7th. She played to a full house of enthusiastic Polish jazz fans, and took the hall by storm: the concert ended with a standing ovation and two well received encore pieces. Polish media were extremely enthusiastic: the prestigious newspaper, Rzeczpospolita, wrote in a front page review that "the audience bowed to the feet of Queen Diana." Poland's PM, Marek Belka, joined Ambassador Lysyshyn at the concert, enjoying it as well as a backstage meeting with the artist (see photos).

Diana Krall's concert in Warsaw provided yet another example of successful leveraging with the private sector: the Embassy's cooperation with the artist's commercial impresario provided Canada with new profile in Poland. Ms. Krall proved to be a perfect "Ambassador for Canada," emphasizing her Canadian roots throughout the concert and during her meeting with the Prime Minister. She has joined a select group of Canadian artists enjoying immense popularity in Poland, including Leonard Cohen, Bryan Adams and Garou. We look forward to her return to Warsaw next year.
