What to wear to a DK concert

Postby Guest on 04 Aug 2004, 02:07

Hello,

I'm a big Diana Krall fan, and soon my wife and I will be attending a concert. We've never been to a jazz concert of any kind.

I'm not overly concerned about it, but my wife is freaking out because she doesn't know what to wear.

Can you folks help us out by suggesting appropriate attire?

Thx,
Jim

ps. I can't wait to go!

Welcome aboard. The last DK concert I went to, I saw all sorts of attire - including flip flops and some worn out holy jean shorts  - way too casual . I noticed A LOT of the men were wearing Hawaiian floral type shirts. My spouse wore an oxford shirt and tie and some nice dress slacks and I wore a tan linen skirt and a button down linen blouse and some heels. Somewhat dressy, but not too dressy ( suit and black cocktail dress) It seemed we were more dressed up than those around us. I would rather be a little overdressed than underdressed in situations like these. I hope this helps. I think sometimes it depends on the venue and what the general atmosphere of the city is where you will be attending the concert.

Hello Jim and welcome.

Jeralee said it all. Be yourself, you and your wife and enjoy your evening.

dress code?

Hi, Jim:
Welcome! I agree with Jeralee and Remi. Question: is the venue outdoors or indoors? If indoors, I think you'd be safe with a "business casual" style. (Now I'm laughing to myself because I remember the Dilbert cartoon about business casual being a bit too casual when everyone at work is in bathrobes! :) ) Outdoors, I think just casual would be fine. Sometimes Diana wears jeans, from what I've heard. I've only seen her in a long skirt. I agree with Jeralee: I think it's always safer to be slightly more dressed up than not.

Welcome Jim! I'm new in this board too.
It must been so exciting to see Diana live,
as a woman i can tell you
that is kind of dificult to find the perfect
outfit for a concert or anything related, ;)
i can't give you a suggestion because
i've never seen Diana live I just hope that someday
she'll come to south america
and finally can see her.

Hi, Jim K:

Welcome

I experienced the same concern when I was going to see Diana at the Greek Theather in LA. I was not aware that the GT was an outdoor place, but I decided to go business casual. I found a lot of people being in casual dress, even in shorts.

But as someone mentioned before, it is entirely up to you the way you dress, the important thing is that you will enjoy DK a lot.

Regards

Armando
