Unofficially, according to Pollstar, Diana will be in Honolulu at the Neil S. Blaisdell Concert Hall March 19th and 20th, 2009......

Me ???..... no, I am kind of booked for this year...... unless Diana comes to Eugene or maybe Portland, I will be waiting until next year to see her live again...

I have tickets for Crosby, Stills and Nash at a winery in Southern Washington, Mark Knopfler in Portland, and Mellissa Etheridge here in Eugene.... that, along with my kids and grandkids coming out for a visit in August and a trip to Washington DC with my daughter in September is going to be my travel plans for this year.....

Maybe in 2009 - it seems like maybe this year DK is going to be mostly overseas anyway......

I just wanted to let you know, Remi - Mark was superb !!!!!!........he played about 2 hours, one song right after another.... I think other than introducing the band members, the only actual words out of him other than singing was "Thank You' !....... he did my favoriate cut off of the new CD (although I love the whole CD actually); 'True Love Will Never Fade' and about half way thru the show he even did 'Sultans of Swing' and about 3 encore songs...... a really great night of music !!

I guess Diana's concert will be a little harder to get into than most...

Hopefully Diana's appearance will not be as dramatic as Elvis' back in '06-

Thanks for the info, johnfoyle!

In case anyone was wondering, there is no way Diana would have been there. She was touring in South Africa:

Krall continues to grow
Like many musicians, Diana Krall isn't much for the interview thing. She communicates through written lyrics and prepared melodies, putting her own stamp on the proceedings. Google-browsing through other interviews reveals only a few actual quotes -- she's apparently paraphrased a lot -- so we're lucky to get her for a few minutes, even by long distance.

Diana Krall back on the rock
"Diana enjoyed it so much after the first time she played here (in 2001) that she wanted to sit in with them the next time she came," said Catingub, who will be celebrating his 10th anniversary at the Honolulu Symphony with the Krall shows. "The problem was, every musician in Honolulu found out about her plan and brought their instruments to Lewers that night. It was a like a cattle call, everyone wanting to play with her."

This blogger ( http://hidandesu.livejournal.com/5675.html )was there:
I just got home from seeing Diana Krall in concert. My mind is still spinning from her performance. She played things from her upcoming album of Brazilian music. Her band is incredible. She said she wants to come back next year and do a concert with her husband Elvis Costello. I saw him last year and I can only imagine how incredible that concert will be. I have to calm down before I go to bed now.

Bud is right. If you've been to Maui, you know the nightlife scene isn't exactly LA or NY. DK would be hard to miss.

Thanks for the tweets. Sounds like we're in for another great tour.

Krall receives standing ovations

Diana Krall has been one of my favorite musical performers ever since Pops Conductor Matt Catingub first brought her here years ago. Fast forward: In shows at Blaisdell Concert Hall March 19 and 20, she earned standing ovations; and Matt was given a warm tribute by singers, musicians and friends to celebrate his 10th anniversary as Pops conductor. Krall strikes me as a fun person to be around, judging from her humorous remarks and stories she sometimes tells between numbers. For example, she told how she was invited to the White House to perform and said she "was a mess" over it because President Barack Obama and Stevie Wonder were in the front row. She didn't brag about her performance but I'm sure she wowed them and other distinguished guests. When the presidential gig was over, she said she went to a piano bar where an old-timer was on the keys. Diana, beside being a knock-out singer, is a fabulous pianist, and she took a turn at the piano. After she finished, the old-timer told her, "Girl, you gotta work on your left hand." And the "girl" who had just played for the President of the United States of America, said, "He was right" ...

Diana opened the Blaisdell concert with "I Love Being Here With You" and followed with a string of jazz and pops standards. She was backed by her marvelous trio of guitarist Anthony Wilson, bassist John Clayton and drummer Jeff Hamilton. The fine Symphony orchestra accompanied them on some numbers. Many of the songs were hits for people who've had a strong influence on her, such as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Ray Brown. Her rendition of "I'll String Along With You" was sung with much emotion as was "You're My Thrill." She and the boys were jumping on " 'Deed I Do." Other songs included "Pick Yourself Up," a Latin influenced "Where or When" and the title song from her Latin album, "Quiet Nights," to be released Tuesday. After closing Thursday she and the trio came back following a standing ovation and knocked out " 'S Wonderful" and a delicious "Frim Fram Sauce," one of Cole's biggies, drawing another standing O. Believe me, there is nothing wrong with the girl's left hand ...
