I agree - what an amazing voice she had.

I saw her in concert once, when I was in high school. It was at the sadly now-defunct Circle Star Theater, just a few miles south of San Francisco. It had a rotating stage in the middle of the concert hall, so everyone had a forward view several times during a performance.

I was also inspired by Karen Carpenter playing the drums (when the group first started). It helped inspire me to learn drums and percussion and join my high school's band and orchestra.

As a little side fun fact.....I was born and grew up in Downey, CA and Karen and her brother had a couple of apartment buildings in town across the street from each other..... they were called "We've Only Just Begun" and "Close to You"......

Every day, to myself I say,
Point the way, what would it be?
I ask myself what's the best thing for you,
And myself and I seem to agree,
That the best thing for you would be me. ... :)

There is a slight Diana connection to the tragic RFK assassination.

Rosemary Clooney was at the Ambassador Hotel that night.
