This is a good board. I was involved as a moderator on another site that used phpbb (www.voicesofoutrage.com) and I've liked it very much, certainly more than ezboard. There are some nice features.

Good choice.

Guys, please keep in mind that we would not switch boards if we didn't feel it was absolutely necessary!! We've been debating this for a long time and it's over due. Ezboard just isn't all it's cracked up to be.

RE: New Site

The jazzprincess.com is dead! Long live the jazzprincess.net! Boy, Remi & Skirt, you two sure move fast! I thought this was just a gleam in Remi's eye on Sunday. ;) Oh, well. Thanks for the change. Change IS good.

phpbb is better but in terms of maintenance....

Postby wush on 21 May 2004, 17:25

Remi,

This board is much better than EzBoard.. Not to mention that it's free...

But does this post an additional strain on you and other admins in keeping the board up and running?

Correct me if I am wrong, but EzBoard is maintained by EzBoard's own admins while phpbb is do-it-yourself type thing...

Well, it's php and it's something that I don't really know well (for now) so it may required more brainstorming from me compared to Ezboard which was especially oriented "html".

No, you're right. Ezboard was maintaining their boards directly from their servers, this new board (as the whole website) is now maintained by me.

Just to say: great forum...

Another thing, I posted a topic about Joss Stone and I noticed that the number of characters allowed in the subject is very strict. Isn't there a way to extend it? It just doesn't appear completely at the top when you open it...

Good work though. Keep it up...

Finally.....

Postby elliek on 26 May 2004, 01:41

Well, it took me long enough, but I've finally made it over to this board. I must say Remi and Lindsay, this board is the hizzle 4 shizzle! Love the new look.

There are now six days of school left and then it's a year off for me to recharge the batteries, take in the Olympics (and maybe even help with some last-minute construction ;) ), and work on my writing. Just the thought of not assigning (and grading) essays is enough to make me do cartwheels all across the campus.

And just think how much time I'll have to post. Look out Eric, I might just give you a run for your money.

First post for an old member...

Postby jazzanddianafan on 26 May 2004, 20:42

I am just now getting around to my first post.... at first I didn't know if I was up to learning a new MB's rules.... but what the heck.... someone said 'change is good'..... just got done with 4-12 hour days in a row at work as my company's non-management folks decieded to go on strike over last weekend... glad that's over with !!!.... I think they ended up settling for about the same thing that was on the table when they left.... but at least we are back to normal now... well, on with the show.... DK Central lives on !!!!!
