New Years Resolutions?

Postby harpfingers on 01 Jan 2005, 06:37

Do you set New Year's Resolutions or not? And do you stick to them?

Happy New Year everyone!

Yeah, I made some last year...no I didn't keep them...

This year I am going to try harder to lose some weight. I will spend more time with the family and less time at work, and be a better husband, father, son and friend. I have decided that I will face each day with a good attitude and not let "oh crap" be the first words that escape my lips when I wake up each morning.

There are a few others, but I won't bore you with the details...

Happy New Year everyone!

I've never made a New Year's resolution before, but this year I do have one: less complaining, less explaining.

less complaining, less explaining

Isn't that a Katharine Hepburn quote: "Never complain, never explain"? In any case, they are wise words to follow, wish I could! ;)

Hi, Angelique:

I know my resolution isn't original...just something I thought I'd try this year. The version I heard was "don't complain, don't explain." But I find absolutes absolutely absurb (except in cases like "The sun always 'rises' in the east") so I changed it to something I think I'm capable of: lessening -- not eliminating -- those tendencies.

By the way, about the jerk who loses his loans to DiTech...I wonder how effective that commercial is. To me, when I think of DiTech, I think of the jerk. The jerk has become "the face of DiTech" to me.

(Should I count that as a complaint? )

Hi Coda,

I know my resolution isn't original...just something I thought I'd try this year.

I think it's a good resolution, whether it's original or not.
